Behind the Brand

Black men have been left hanging when it comes to haircare and grooming products.

We deserve better.

So, I did something about it.

I’m Roudy, and this brand’s named after my pops, Rousseau.

He’s been big on self-care, and I picked that up early on.

Since ‘93, I’ve rocked every hairstyle — baldie, dreads, and even an s-curl (bad idea, trust me).

The struggle?

Choosing products that didn’t get my hair.

I grabbed my mom’s stuff, dabbled with whatever women’s products I could find, and next thing you know — I’m walking around smelling like I slipped and fell into a puddle of jasmine, only to get splashed by a bus full of lavender.  

None of it worked for my hair, and I smelled like a walking perfume counter at Macy’s.

Fast forward to 2020, when I finally cracked the code: porosity.

Turns out, I have high porosity hair, which was thirsting for moisture but couldn’t hold onto it.

Long story short, I needed products made for me, and Black men like me.

So, I started R. Rousseau — a brand that finally gets our hair, from science to real results.

But it’s more than just hair care.

We’re building a community, sharing tips, stories, and everything you need to keep your hair on point.
